![]() Hi, my name is Kingsland’s
Reine Gabrielle, but you can call me Gabbie. I was whelped 15 May 2008
at Kingsland Labrador in Puyallup, WA out of Kingsland’s Miss
Molly and Merganser’s Ferris Bueller MH, WC. My humans are Larry
and Maureen Hacker.
That’s me on the left with my first AKC Junior Hunt Test Ribbon which I earned at the Hills Ferry Hunting Retriever Club 2010 Hunt Test in Los Banos, CA. I was so excited to be running my first test that I nearly blew it when I forgot to hold onto the duck. Fortunately for me I recovered my composure. I worked very hard to earn that ribbon. My first attempt at canine high school was somewhat of a failure. I was definitely not athlete of the year. The trainer thought I had no drive and showed a total lack of interest in retrieving. Did I fool him. I was actually paying attention and learning. When dad and mom picked me up in August I was so happy to be going home. It was a week before I wanted to chase anything. After that it was non-stop. Mom took over my training. After reading several books she decided to start with pile work. They were really surprised when upon hearing “Fetch” I headed for the pile and the just thrown bumper, picked it up, returned to heel, sat and waited for mom to command “Drop”. They were even more amazed when mom commanded “Back” and I took off for the pile and brought back another bumper. Last Fall dad and mom decided to once again send me to a professional trainer. I’ve been spending the winter in Lost Hills, CA with Mike and Tiffany Taylor. I’ve been working hard mastering skills mom wasn’t equipped to teach me. But it’s not all work, I’m doing something that I love. How many dogs get to retrieve birds every day? DockDogs is my second favorite sport. I’m a member of the Las Vegas DockDogs. I’m looking forward to competing in the local and regional events. Now that I’m a big girl I should be able to jump farther and higher, and swim faster. I just found out that I have a brother. His name is Haze. But that’s another story. |
