This Year's Top Team runs thru December 31st.

LVHRC "Top Team" Rules
Timeframe:
Jan 2020 - Dec 2020
Contestants: Any club member may enter. Participation in AKC, HRC, or NAHRA-sanctioned events are subject to their Club rules and restrictions. Entry can occur at any time during the competition year; however, points accrued prior to entry will not retroactively apply.
Teams: Dog and primary handler who are identified at the beginning of the competition year. In the absence of the primary handler, a non-pro handler may be substituted.
Competition Categories:
Entry Fees: $10 to enter annual competition
Club events may have their own entry fees to defray event costs (birds, etc).
All club fees waived for youth handlers.
AKC, HRC, NAHRA rules and entry fees will apply to those sponsored events.
No additional club fees.
Awards: Annual “traveling trophies” for each category. Ribbons for each Club-sponsored qualifying event.
Qualifying Events:
Point System:
Points will be awarded throughout the year and reported via LVHRC website. Each participant is responsible for the accuracy of their own points.
It is the handlers’ sole responsibility to provide the Top Team Secretary proof of any qualifying performances.

- Master: Open to any dog that has already earned Senior Hunter (or equivalent) title at the time they enter annual competition.
- Senior: Open to any dog that has not yet earned Senior Hunter (or equivalent) title at the time they enter annual competition.
- Junior: Open to any dog that has not yet earned Junior Hunter (or equivalent) title at the time they enter annual competition.

Qualifying Events:
- Club Sponsored: Being a short competition year, to transition to the competition being a full calendar year next year, this year LVHRC will host only 4 qualifying events. These could include picnic hunt tests, Super Singles competition, or any other relevant event determined by the board prior to the start of any competition year. Picnic hunt tests will be governed, to the extent possible, by AKC Retriever Hunt Test rules.
- AKC, HRC, NAHRA Sponsored: Any AKC, HRC, or NAHRA-sponsored hunt test during the competition year can potentially accrue competition points. In order to earn competition points, dogs must be entered into their “competition” category. Dates for these events can be found in Entry Express.
- Qualifying Performance in any AKC or UKC recognized Event, including applied for titles (ie CGC, Trick Dog, Therapy Dog): A qualifying performance is defined as earning either a title or a leg towards a title.
- In field trials, a qualifying performance is any placement and is 5 points.
- A qualifying WC/WCX title is awarded 3 points, regardless of the level the dog is currently running Hunt Test or Field Trials.
- In conformation, a qualifying performance is obtained if minor or major points are awarded.
- For titles such as Therapy Dog in which the only qualifying event is successful certification, only 1 point will be awarded to this title, regardless of its requirement of 10 non-competitive visits to obtain. Each subsequent title earned is awarded 1 point.
- The team only earns points for qualifying performances in the ir current working level. IE: A team with an Obedience CDX will only be awarded points for qualifying performances in Open or Utility, but not in Novice.
Point System:

- LVHRC "Super Saturday": 2 points for a qualifying Pass, plus 2 additional points for first place and 1 additional point for second place in each category.
- LVHRC Picnic Hunt Test: 3 points for each qualifying Pass.
- AKC, HRC, NAHRA Sponsored Hunt Tests: 5 points for each qualifying Pass.
- Qualifying Performance in any AKC or UKC recognized Event, including applied for titles (ie CGC, Trick Dog, Therapy Dog): 1 Point
- The team only earns points for qualifying performances in their current working level. IE: A team with an Obedience CDX will only be awarded points for qualifying performances in Open or Utility, but not in Novice.
